This course will use simulation games for increasing the awareness of how own decision making impacts on the supply chain. It will focus on aspects concerning production logistic. Furthermore, within the safe learning environment, the students can apply different logistic strategies for improving the flexibility and efficiency of the manufacturing and analyze the impact afterwards. This course aims at giving an opportunity to collect experience on how own decisions impact on the other stakeholders in a supply chain as well as within the own company. The students will apply different logistics strategies as well as methods supporting the decision making in order to:
- understand the main processes within the supply chain
- understand the impact of own behavior on the output
- develop and apply strategies for a more flexible manufacturing, reduction of stock and batch sizes, improving the internal transport and analyze the impact afterwards
- look at the consequences of make-or-buy decisions
- be aware of the role of communication and the information flow between the internal and external stakeholders
- be aware of how own decisions impacts on the other internal and external stakeholder
- apply different decision making methods and logistic strategies and analyze the impact this have on own and the overall result.

Material sustainability and material efficiency in the different phases of the product life cycle are relevant perspectives to achieve improvements for environmental and economic sustainability of products. A distinction of materials between raw materials, auxiliary materials and operating supplies along the life cycle, as well as different material efficiency options will be presented and experienced by using Serious Games. A case study which includes a visit to a rotor blades producer supports the practical view of the topic.
